EnergyGuide Labels

Information included on all labels:

Manufacturer, type of appliance, model number, and capacity.

Estimated average yearly operating costs – Based on the estimated hours the appliance is used per year and a standard cost per KWH (kilowatt-hour) rate. The rate may be different from the rate you pay. For room air conditioners, instead of average yearly cost the number is an EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio).

Comparisons – A thick line showing a scale of how the appliance compares with appliances of the same size and style. An arrow indicates where the appliance falls on the scale.

Yearly cost table – This table helps you figure the yearly operating cost for the appliance based on the local utility rates and use habits. (To calculate your current KWH rate, click below and scroll down to the “Figure out the cost per KWH” section.)
